The Department of Transport is one of the main branches of the South African Government. They are in charge of maintenance, construction, and development of national roads, marine transport, international airports and national airports, as well as all local roads and railways. They also hold a shared obligation for public transport, traffic regulations, vehicle licensing, parking, traffic, and airports. They are also accountable for protocols of freight, shipping, public transport, motor vehicles and rail transportation.
This Department aims to provide sufficient skilled workers and assist in stabilizing the country’s economy. They aim to do this via their programs offered to the gifted youth of South Africa. There are many opportunities for growth within this Department.

Department of Transport Learnerships Requirements
Candidates must be younger than 35 in order to apply. Candidates must include a detailed curriculum vitae. They should also make available references that are reachable, along with any information that is applicable to their submission. Include certified copies of all significant certificates, proof of address no older than three months and ID Document.
Candidates must have the following:
- Be a citizen of South African
- Candidates must hold a valid South African ID document
- Completed Grade 12, and have their certificate
- Be skilled in English and another language
- Must not hold a criminal record
- You must be fit for vigorous activities
- Must not be declared incompetent in any other Legislation that could be of relevance
- You must be prepared to work public holidays, weekend and shifts if required
- Must have excellent communication skills both verbal & written
- Applicants must not be involved in any employee dismissal processes
Forgery will not be taken lightly. Only shortlisted candidates will be communicated with. These selected candidates may be requested to do a medical fitness, driving test and fingerprint verification. Candidates are not guaranteed a permanent location after finishing the learnership program, however, some may be offered permanent positions if they have an opening.
