Department Of Trade And Industry Import Permit, Import and export control is the function of the International Trade Administration Commission of South Africa (ITAC). ITAC was established through the International Trade Administration Act, No. 71 of 2002, which came into force on 1 June 2003.
The Act makes provision for control, through a permit system, of the import and export of goods specified by regulation. ITAC’s primary objective is to create an enabling environment for fair trade, through the efficient and effective administration of trade instruments.
It also serves in an advisory capacity to the dti. ITAC is responsible for import and export control, international trade instruments and technical advice, tariff investigations and trade remedy solutions.
