Department Of Rural Development And Land Reform Mpumalanga Address, Mpumalanga  Swazi, Zulu: iMpumalanga; Tsonga: Mpumalanga; Southern Ndebele: IMpumalanga; Northern Sotho, Afrikaans, Southern Sotho: Mpumalanga) is a province of South Africa.



The name means “east”, or literally “the place where the sun rises” in the Swazi, Xhosa, Ndebele, and Zulu languages. Mpumalanga lies in eastern South Africa, bordering Swaziland and Mozambique.

It constitutes 6.5% of South Africa’s land area. It shares borders with the South African provinces of Limpopo to the north, Gauteng to the west, the Free State to the southwest, and KwaZulu-Natal to the south. The capital is Nelspruit.

Its strategic goals are to support the development of a sustainable agrarian reform and the large farming sector; improve access to affordable and diverse food; improve services to support healthy livelihoods; create rural jobs and promote sustainable economic livelihoods; and improve the institutional delivery environment by ensuring that there are credible Integrated Development Plans (IDPs) and skills audit.
