Department Of Public Works Mpumalanga
Mpumalanga is a province of South Africa. The name means “east”, or literally “the place where the sun rises” in the Swazi, Xhosa, Ndebele and Zulu languages. Mpumalanga lies in eastern South Africa, bordering Swaziland and Mozambique. It constitutes 6.5% of South Africa’s land area. It shares borders with the South African provinces of Limpopo to the north, Gauteng to the west, the Free State to the southwest, and KwaZulu-Natal to the south. The capital is Nelspruit.
The mission of the Mpumalanga Department of Public Works, Roads, and Transport is to provide an integrated, reliable and cost-effective transport system that meets the development needs of the province, and to deliver infrastructure that promotes sustainable economic development and job creation.
The Department’s strategic outcome-orientated goals are: efficient and effective governance; a balanced and equitable provincial government building infrastructure portfolio; transport infrastructure delivery; transport system management, operation, and regulation; and coordination of EPWP III across the province.
