Opportunities for NSW public school teachers to broaden their experience through work in Rural Experience schools in NSW and in equivalent positions in schools overseas.

Rural Experience Program

The Rural Experience Program provides an opportunity for permanent teachers to take part in a short placement of 1 to 4 terms in a Rural Experience school. Over 140 placements have been created by principals in more than 80 rural and remote schools for 2018 and 2019. Applications are now open for teachers to match their skills and experiences to placements on offer with applications closing 11 May 2018.

International Teacher Exchange program

The International Teacher Exchange program rewards outstanding New South Wales teachers with the opportunity to enhance their teaching career in an exciting and adventurous way, and to further expand their professional skills in a new environment.

Exchange selection is a competitive process. Applicants will be considered on their merit with preference being given to teachers who have demonstrated exceptional practice, in particular if they have achieved Highly Accomplished or Lead Teacher accreditation, a strong recommendation from their principal around their professional and personal suitability for an exchange; and been highly recommended by their Director, Public Schools NSW.
